The Department of Energy released 83 pages of records in response to our lawsuit for travel records from former Secretary Perry's May 2019 trip to Ukraine.
On Monday, the Department of Energy released 83 pages of records in response to American Oversight’s lawsuit for travel records from former Secretary Rick Perry’s May 2019 trip to Ukraine for President Volodymyr Zelensky’s inauguration.
The records include flight and hotel records for Perry as well as top DOE officials who accompanied the secretary to Ukraine, including then-Chief of Staff Brian McCormack, Assistant Secretary for International Affairs Theodore Garrish, and senior aide Samuel Buchan, a former Trump campaign staffer.
On a form documenting the expenses for Garrish’s travel to Ukraine, the purpose of the trip is listed as: “Meetings regarding corporate governance of Naftogaz, ENR programs.”
American Oversight has been investigating Perry’s contacts with Ukrainian officials and U.S. energy interests in Ukraine, as well as his communications with individuals involved in President Donald Trump’s scheme to pressure Ukraine to announce an investigation into Joe Biden.
