Defense Department Communications from 2020–2021 Transition Period

Records released in response to American Oversight’s litigation for emails or decision memoranda from key political appointees during the 2020–2021 presidential transition, when then-President Trump replaced several high-level officials with political loyalists.

The requested records included emails related to the Jan. 6 insurrection as well as calendars, communications, and memos from the days after the November 2020 firing of Secretary Mark Esper.
