American Oversight sent a letter to Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr and Vice Chairman Mark Warner urging them to request any recordings of conversations between President Trump and former FBI Director Comey – and to issue subpoenas if the president does not comply.

On Friday, May 12, President Trump alleged that there may be “tapes” of his conversations with Director Comey.

Based on the president’s other statements in recent days, if such tapes do exist, they may contain direct evidence of the president attempting to interfere with the FBI investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

American Oversight is actively investigating the Trump administration’s actions relating to the Russia investigation – and has filed lawsuits to release records of White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus interfering at the FBI, Attorney General Jeff Sessions lying about his contacts with Russian officials, and the alleged “wiretapping” of Trump Tower.

American Oversight has also sent multiple Freedom of Information Act requests to the Department of Justice and FBI to uncover the truth about the firing of Director Comey.
