Tracking Threats to Democracy

The violent insurrection of January 6, 2021, was the culmination of months of lies about the 2020 election and years of false claims about widespread voter fraud. Since that day, the anti-democratic election denial movement has broadened its reach and doubled down on the lies as it seeks to weaken trust in U.S. elections and erect new barriers to voting.

American Oversight and other pro-democracy organizations have been investigating efforts by public officials and anti-democratic activist networks to sow doubt about election integrity and create chaos and confusion around voting. This resource tracks the actions of election deniers, election subverters, and partisan actors who promoted the 2020 “Big Lie” or continue to work to undermine U.S. democracy.
