Trump Firing Bondi Doesn’t Let Her Off the Hook for DOJ Abuses, Epstein Mishandling
With her congressional deposition looming, Bondi’s firing does not shield her from accountability.
In response to news that President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi and installed his former criminal defense attorney Todd Blanche as acting attorney general, American Oversight released the following statement from its Executive Director, Chioma Chukwu:
“Attorney General Bondi leaves behind a stain on the Department of Justice that will not be easily erased. Throughout her tenure, she worked tirelessly to pervert the department’s mission and to wield its authority in service of President Trump’s political ambitions and personal vendettas. And now — just as he has done with others before her — he has cast her aside.
But Bondi’s departure offers no escape from accountability. It does not alter the facts, nor does it absolve her of responsibility for what occurred under her watch, including the mishandling of the Epstein investigation. She still owes the American people answers, and Congress must ensure that she provides them.
The public deserves complete transparency about how decisions were made at the Department of Justice during her leadership, accountability for actions that undermined the rule of law, and a decisive break from the misuse of justice as a political weapon.”
