Letter to Wake TSI: American Oversight v. Fulton County, Pa. – Election Officials’ Communications

Pennsylvania has joined the growing number of states where partisan actors have launched baseless election investigations, with Republican lawmakers initiating in September 2021 a “forensic investigation” into the state’s 2020 election results.

The Jan. 6, 2021, mob attack on the U.S. Capitol was a direct result of former President Trump's incitement and refusal to acknowledge the results of the 2020 election, but he has not been the only one fanning the flames of conspiracy theories and social unrest. American Oversight seeks to shed light on ways federal and state officials abetted his efforts by promoting baseless claims of voter fraud to undermine the election’s legitimacy — and the next administration.
